What do I do when someone passes away?

Death in its inevitability is rarely ever discussed and as result can end in confusion and despair. Death will affect and touch us all and as a result basic knowledge should be addressed.

When a family member does pass away, generally the first person to contact is their doctor. If the Doctor will not sign a death certificate then a coroner will have to take the appropriate steps to allow the person into the Funeral Directors care.

Apart from other family members and friends the next person to call is the Funeral Director of your choice. The Funeral Director should then make arrangements to see you to organize the funeral arrangements for your family member. During this process the funeral director should have organized the transfer of your loved one into their care.

Help take the burden off your loved ones by planning your funeral in advance, in a calm and thoughtful atmosphere.
